Active or alternating pressure relief systems have been designed for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers also known as bed sores or decubiti ulcers. These conditions left untreated can result in serious conditions. Prevention is the best form of treatment so anyone that is potentially going to be lying or sitting for long periods should look at one of these options. If ulcers already exist then a high care active or alternating pressure relief system should be in use urgently.
