Wheelchair users to benifit from Government payout Well despite all the doom and gloom surrounding the financial news something good has come from it. The Australian Government has announced a one off payment to pensioners. Single pensioners, including carers, and self-funded retirees on Commonwealth health cards will get $1400 and couples $2100 from December 8 in a lump sum. Carers will also get $1000 for each person in their care. This has prompted a noticeable rise in the enquiry rate for wheelchairs and new mobility scooters.
